Memorial Day Weekend

I hope you all have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!
BUT do not forget the meaning of Memorial Day.

It is NOT another "holiday" to go out and get wasted.
It is a time to celebrate our FREEDOM and how we got it.
We have our freedom because of brave individuals, US SOLDIERS, who fought for us.

There is nothing wrong with picnics and celebrating, but some take it too far.
It may be more of a "young" person thing, but it's stupid. You don't use a holiday like this to get wasted. It is childish and stupid.

Other than that, eat food, enjoy time with your family and friends and fly your AMERICAN flag proudly!

Looking for More Fiber?

The American Dietetic Association (ADA) suggest we should consume 20-35 grams / day!

Fiber helps with weightloss!

Here are a few food choices you could incorporate into your healthy eating for some more fiber!

1 cup Rasberries = 6.4 grams
1 Apple = 5 grams
1 cup Cooked black beans = 13.9 grams
1 Avocado = 11.8 grams
1 cup Cooked Kale (yum) = 7.2 grams

Enjoy!

If you would like some more ideas on foods with fiber, check out this website:

Positives of Unemployment: Final Chapter

If you are new to this blog, I have done a few prior posts on unemployment and its effects.
Here are the older posts....

This "Final Chapter" is just going over my goals and new outlooks on life.

My main goal is to work hard enough to get into the National Guard. It would be an honor to serve in this country. It is always something in the back of my mind that I would have wanted to do, but didn't think it was possible. I have my mind set. I need to lose 45lbs, and I would be set to enlist. My biggest fear was getting deployed when I was younger, but I see everything in a different light now.

Other goal, well of course to get a job. I would LOVE to keep my car,
because it is the second love of my life <3

2004 Hyundai Tiburon GT V6

I mean, I don't think I would lose my car, but we seriously won't have enough money for our bills next month, so I need a job ASAP. Atleast making $400.00 a month and we'd be fine. I am already claiming bankruptcy on just myself because of credit card debt, but oh well. Money has always been an evil and addicting thing to me. I'd be better off without credit cards. Now that I have learned there is more to life then STUFF, I am happier.

I have always spend time with my family on holidays, birthdays etc, but I would like to be around more often. I have an amazing relationship with my Mom. We talk ALL THE TIME. haha. We'll just randomly call eachother to vent like every other day! We've been able to talk more now that I don't work. And I am not miserable to talk with anymore.

I don't know what my future holds, obviously, but I am not scared. Bring it on. It's life. Everyone goes through some type of bullshit, you just have to SHUT THE HELL UP and deal with it :)

Someone ALWAYS has it worse. I am not lying in my death bed, so my life is amazing!

What Kind of "Dieter" Are You?

These will be my interpretations of different dieters I have met over my lifetime...lol
These are just meant for fun, no personal feelings towards anyone :)
ENJOY!

The "Fad" dieter: This is the one that jumps on every "juice" drinking diet. If it says it will make you lose weight, they are trying it ASAP. (i.e. fruit only, juice drinking, crazy weightloss bars, cottage cheese diet etc.)

The Announcer: This dieter is CONSTANTLY letting you and everyone around them they are dieting. I feel they are just looking for someone to say " WOW, you look amazing." I mean I could see them tapping on someones shoulder in church and telling them. Seriously?

The Silent Dieter: This one is the complete opposite, they don't want anyone to know! They'll take food from people when its given to them and hide it or throw it away. They'll be approached and told they looked like they lost weight and when you ask how, their response "What are you talking about? I am not doing anything."

The "Program" dieter: These dieters have to try all PROGRAMS out there. P90X, Weight Watchers, Curves, etc Now there is nothing wrong with the programs, but in reality, you are paying money for something you can do yourself, and FOR FREE :)

The "Snobby" already super skinny dieter: This is the person who's already in PERFECT condition, but will eat a piece of toast for breakfast, a carrot for lunch, and one glass of wine for dinner. BUT they rub it in your face that they "diet" even though they don't need to. Just eat healthy!

The "Organic" dieter: Now there's nothing wrong with eating organic. I purchase a few things organic. But I am talking about the one who just says the word every 5 minutes. "Um, Is this water organic?" Come on now....

Well have a great rest of your weekend....
By the way, what kind of dieter are you?

I choose to count my calories, log my fitness minutes, only tell my close friends and just eat healthy.

But He Says He Loves Me....

This will just be my little rant and rave of today.
It's not meant to offend anyone, just some personal feelings....

It's more like an awareness message I suppose.

Now by no means am I an "expert" in the subject of abuse. I've never been abused physically or mentally. I have been very blessed in that aspect.

BUT, I cannot stand when I hear stories about other woman just taking the abuse and making excuses for it. HE HIT YOU, that's not love. If he tells you it is, he's nuts. A REAL man would not lay a finger on a woman.

I have a relationship with someone who has been hit, with a noticeable bruise, and tried to hide it from me. I got her dead smack in her lies. It saddens me because this girl is bright, beautiful and has a lot of potential.

She chooses to stay with a BOY, who she's know since she was like 13, who treats her like shit and lives off of her money. He's broken the law in a lot of instances, can't hold a full time job, doesn't go to school, does drugs...I mean, what a real winner here.

Nothing she will ever say to me will make me respect him or want anything to ever do with him. It does put a damper on our relationship a little bit because I don't even want to hear about him.

"He won't do it again." "He loves me." " He was just in a bad mood." "It's only happened once."

Ladies, PLEASE, don't use these excuses. Find a friend to help you or a family member to talk to.
(I'm not even going to touch on the subject if a kid is involved.)

Warning signs that you may be in an abusive relationship:

- They are controlling
- Extremeley jealous
- Doesn't allow you to hang out with your friends or see your family
- Makes "jokes" that be little you in any way
- Threaten to hurt you if you leave
- You can't tell them when you go somewhere in fear that they'll get mad
- Controls where you work, go to school, who you see
- Blames you when things go wrong on their part
- Demands sexual acts you are not comfortable with

Think about it. You have ONE life to live, living being abused is not how you should do it.
It is probably the HARDEST thing to do, I understand, "love" is powerful.

You may feel that no one else will ever love you. That's not true. Relationships will happen in time. You need to love yourself first anyways. If you don't. No one will ever be able to completely love you.

Just remember you have places to seek for help. You are not alone.

Need Motivation To Keep Going?

REMEMBER...If you truly want it, you'll get it.
Make these stickies yourself and put them on the fridge, the cabinet, the mirrors etc.

Have a good night/day :)
What ever time it is..haha

Positives of Unemployment Part 2

If you're new to my blog, and would like to know where this started,
check out my previous blog post first :)

Ah yes, now where was I? Hating on my job..(understatement..)

Anyhooo, I did find PLENTY of positives being unemployed.
(Let me get this out of the way, money sucks, I've always had a lot of credit card debt, and now I can't afford to pay any of my cards....)

With that being said...(DRUMROLL)..

I found NEW hobbies. I now enjoy blogging. Before when I used to blog, I kind of did it to gain attention and possibly get some free products out of it. I never read any one else's blog or left comments. Whole different story now. I love reading what is on someone else's mind! I've learned so many different things, whether its fitness or beauty related. I love showing people appreciation for their efforts and success :)

Cooking. I hated cooking because it requires so much time and effort for a homemade meal. I now take pride in making dinner for us, instead of my fiance getting in the door and throwing in chicken nuggets and french fries. I appreciate my ability to cook and have dinner prepared.

Fitness and Health. Well, I've always been the girl subscribed to EVERY fitness magazine and online website, but never used the advice. I was always too mentally tired to do anything. I would try to work out in the mornings before work, and I would be too drained mid way, that I stopped. I now work out every single day. I've lost 15lbs and feel so much better. I take the time to watch what I am actually feeding my body and have learned ALOT. (More on what pushed me to pursue fitness so hard later)

There will be a part 3 - sharing my new goals :)

LONG overdo....
Sorry but the whole "pretty, flowery, bees, spring thing"- so totally NOT me :)
It may not be PERFECT, or the exact way I want it, but I suck at designing them...
Atleast I made the header all on my own...(silent applause....)

Ahh yes, well if you know of any good website to find buttons and stuff...
LEAVE A COMMENT PLEASE!!!

Feel Free to Laugh...

Yes, feel free to LAUGH your assss off at me :)
I am doing this to hold myself accountable.....

Remember those push-ups and sit-ups I am supposed to be doing?
Well I started today....
And for anyone who doesn't know, these are important because I want to enlist....

Now I need to be able to do 43 sit-ups in 2 minutes and 11 push-ups in 2 minutes...

I am following a program out of a book for basic training.

Here are todays results:

Set 1
1 minute sit-ups: 15
Crunches (till failure): 30
Set 2
1 minute sit-ups Set:10 (barely!)
Crunches: 41

Set 1
1 minute push-ups: 1 (ohh yeahh!)
Diamond push-ups on knees: 1 (Making strides..)
Set 2
1 minute push-ups: 0 (I couldn't make it down without collapsing)
Diamond push-ups on knees: hahaha ;)

Well I am laughing..
Can anyone do more than 11 push-ups? What's yout advice, I need it!

Morning Food Comparison

So I just wanted to show an example of how much you can truly eat when trying to eat healthy!
Here is my breakfast from this morning...

I step back and am like "Woah fat ass is eating, BUT then I look at the calories, only 350 and ONLY 4 grams of fat." It's like a perfect size breakfast!

OR you can eat one Bacon, egg and cheese sandwhich from Dunkin Donuts...
And set yourself back 530 calories and 19 grams of fat! For one small sandwhich!

Positives of Unemployment Part 1

If you read my last post on the "negatives" of unemployment, I noted that some people view not having a job as a "party." I will for sure say that there is nothing "fun" about it. The name of my post refers to the positives of being jobless. You always have to see both sides of a situation, and do your best.

Story Behind It All
First of all, I chose to quit my job at The Hartford. I worked as a customer service representative for AARP Health clients. This would be the 50+ crowd. The reason I left was because of the clients. I had it made there, business wise. My bosses loved me and always had me doing little projects. My review I received was incredible, not to mention the raise was nice. But, despite all that, I couldn't get passed the miserableness of these people who had to call just to bitch at someone they didn't know.

I started growing hatred for old people. Hate is a very strong word, and I try my best to stay away from it, but this was a true feeling. What was strange is that I loved older people. I used to volunteer at a rehabilitation center, and they always loved when I visited. 80% of the callers just felt like they could call you names; (stupid, idiot, good for nothing, a waste, etc) Who the hell gave them the right to do this? Worse yet, we couldn't do anything about it, except ask them to stop, only for them to laugh at us in return...

Now my personality did not help the situation. I am always kind and loving, and try to stay away from conflicts as much as possible, so that did not help. I knew I had to quit when I started hating my life. I never wanted to do anything but sleep, eat and spend money.(that i didn't actually have). Hence why my weight went to 202lbs, and in severe debt. Not to mention, doctor visits to get put on depression medication. Seriously?

I don't have anything against medication, please don't think that. I am actually prescribed to anxiety medication. Anyways, I also started crying in my car on the way to work, in the parking lot, on lunch breaks, and at home at night. No one wants to live like this. I knew my breaking point was reached when I actually broke down on a call to a bitter old man who was only upset because I was the second person he was connected to. Really? Well that was it, I gave a three weeks notice, and just did the bare minimum at work for those three weeks....

To Be Continued....

Negatives of Unemployment

For many people unemployment is either a very frightening thing
or something someone dreams about.
I can understand being scared when you have bills to pay,
medical needed and quite possibly other mouths to feed.
Situations in life are handed to you to deal with. It depends on HOW you handle them.
Now I first must say that my unemployment was by choice. I quit because I needed to. No one will ever understand, and I don't expect anyone to. We all do what we "think" is good for ourselves right?
("Think" is in quotes because I believe our lives are already mapped out)
Anyways, I will state why unemployment shouldn't be something someone dreams about...
(and you don't have a government check given to you, keep this in mind)

First, you are more than likely to not have any savings to fall back on. If you do, awesome, you were one of the "smart" ones when watching your money. If you are like me, it sucks.
Second, the first week will be AMAZING. No responsibility to be anywhere, not controlled by anyone and you plan your day as you want. Now after that first week, you have already done EVERYTHING you possibly had to do in your mind, and now you are left with everday chores, and seriously, not the funnest thing in the world.
Third, Personally, I feel like a bum. I sleep in a little, make myself breakfast, go to the gym, eat lunch, shower, watch Netflix, make dinner, and um go to bed. I don't feel very productive to society.
Lastly, depending on your situation, you may end up homeless =)

Now, there is a point to this posting, I will be later posting why I feel unemployment was quite possibly the best thing I ever chose to do.

It's A Beautiful Day!

Today was a very good day despite waking up to another horrible sore throat, but it went away by around noon or so. I was delighted!

I wanted to share with you guys what stairs I run.

Photo came out pretty good on my camera phone :)

When I refer to running stairs, these are them!
I run up , then walk down the other side, and jog accross the grass, then repeat until I hit 10x total for now. I hope to increase that when my stamina is better!

Todays Workout:
Warm-up: 10 min jog on treadmill
I weight lifted my chest, shoulders and back today.
Pyramid Workout by www.Toneitup.com

Ugh. No Fair

Just when everything is going so well, I get a TERRIBLE sore throat.
This is a reflection of my current mood.

If anyone knows me personally, you know that I am a big baby when it comes to being sick.
I know that no one likes being sick, but some people can just go through the motions and be done
with it. I am not one of them, unfortunately.

On a very good note, I timed my 2-mile run yesterday and finished in 16 min 7 secs!
That meets one of the fitness requirements for the National Guard.
You need to be able to do the 2 mile run under 20 mins.

I may just be taking this day to rest. I really DO NOT want to.
Working out has become a big habit, and when I don't do it, I feel horrible and irritable.
I guess exercise is a good/bad thing. haha.
It's like some people who don't have their morning cup of coffee so they make everyone else's life miserable for the day....well that's me skipping exercise.

I really hope this sore throat clears away, and I can get back on track.
Well atleast I won't eat much, I can never eat with a sore throat :)

Have a great day!

Amazing News!

So I have some AMAZING news!
Which I will get to at the END of my post :)

Well, Happy Mother's Day! (Like I said on Facebook, to the good Mother's who raised their children with respect, responsibility and manners)
I mean come on, not EVERY mother is a good one.

My mom decided that this year she spend it with her daughters shopping!
It was a good time! We went to Sear's, Kohl's and the Dollar Tree!
She only found one shirt, my sister got her prom shoes AND we got Subway!!

That's Marissa and my Mom <3

So, my food logging has been going great! My Fitness Pal is so easy! I've actually been WAY under my calorie intake since Thursday, so I need to work on that!
Today, I went a tad over, so I am fine with that. It's a learn as you go process :)

Anyhow..MY GOOD NEWS!

03/12/2011 - 202LBS
04/11/2011 - 197LBS
05/08/2011 - 187LBS

I am hoping to be at least 180 by my Dr.'s appointment on June 7th!
WISH ME LUCK!

I have lost 15lbs since I quit my job on March 12!
I am seriously so excited to continue on my journey.
I know it will eventually get harder to drop the weight, BUT I am determined and will be enlisting in the National Guard in NO TIME!!!!

Have a great weekend!

Not My Best

Today was certainly not the best...
First off, I didn't wake up until 1:45pm, which totally threw me off my entire day.
I don't even know why I woke up so late, I went to sleep at midnight. I can't stand myself sometimes!

I got new running shoes yesterday!
They are super comfortable! I bought them at Lady's Foot Locker. The woman that helped me pick them out was very helpful. She knew her shoes! ha ha. She even sold me on these insoles that go in the shoe. Makes them ten times more comfy than they already are. The shoes were on sale for $89.99. Way more than what I normally spend on sneakers. I usually hunt around at Kohls, Sears and sometimes Famous Footwear. I figured that since I would be spending half my days in them, they should last a while.

Sadly, I did not get to the gym today. I am a tad upset with myself, but yesterday's workout wore me the hell out. I did shoulders and back at Gold's Gym and then met my friend Kenny at Lehigh Parkway and we walked for 2 hours straight, hills and all.

So I just made sure that I still drank my 8 cups of water and kept eating at a minimum. I walked around for two hours today, so hopefully it isn't too bad...

I went to Express today and got SUPER cute workout clothing! I'll have to post photos of them then! I am so excited to wear them. Then I made my way to Wal-Mart for a few odds and ends. I also picked up some HEALTHY foods which I am going to share in a post soon.

Then I had the intentions of going to the gym, but it was PACKED, and I hate going to the gym when it's crazy. I also planned to get a pedicure so I went and did that! (Atleast my legs got a massage to run harder tomorrow, right?)

While I was waiting in line at Wal-Mart I was behind an older man wearing a National Guard jacket. Let me tell you, ever since I have had this "idea," I see signs everywhere. He told me not to worry about bootcamp. ha ha, yeah about that....

More posts soon....

Monday...Oh Monday!

I figured I type up a post since I am waiting for my Ipod to charge so I can hit the gym!
In the meantime I am drinking my pre-workout drink - SuperPump 250! Helps me work out harder! It is almost gone and I am actually going to try the BSN No Explode in Lemon Lime.

Forcasted workout - - Bikini Strap workout by Toneitup!

I made a calendar of how many days I have left until weigh in!
36 Flippin' Days!

I downloaded some more music for my workouts. I found that I do my best listening to Killswitch Engage! Just enough to push me further!

On another note:
I totally fell asleep last night (morning) at like 4:00am. Horrible! I just couldn't fall asleep, so it kind of screwed me up today. I'll be at the gym later than usual, but it's okay!

My job hunt is still going slow. I am going to contact Ulta today to see if they got my application. I would LOVE to work there! What girly girl wouldn't? It's like make-up headquarters!
Plus, I'm going to need money soon!

I've become REALLY addicted to blogging. It's a tad sickening. haha. It's just so much fun to type about stuff and do reviews on products. On the other end, I have found SO many blogs to read!

Okay, I'll end this, most don't like long blog posts...
well atleast until I have more followers....

Until later.............
